I know my older neighbor had the name Louise but went by Dolly. I don’t know if that was a childhood nickname or something.. I actually never knew her real name till she passed away and I was shown the grave and was confused because I thought her real name was Dolly.

Could be a childhood nickname or an affectionate name someone called her that she liked it and kept using. I used the nickname Dolly for my Meghan when she started walking because she looked like a little walking doll. She was even tinier than one. LOL. But it didn’t stick and we naturally went with Meg most of the time.
