reading all of these perspectives from people also named alexandra makes me feel so relieved of the struggle yet also boosted my confidence in its profound aesthetic. i used to hate my name, hated it, cried fo my mom to change my name, until i turned about 18 and then i realized how beautiful and elegant it is. the more beautiful and elegant i have become myself the more intimate i become with my name. i’ve grown up from day 1 with the nickname of ali. no one called me alexandra until college classes when i finally was mature enough to use its sophistication to my advantage. now at 20, i am changing / adding new nickname for myself–nixy. i decided this yesterday which lead me to this website. lol. a cute and spicy nickname that better suits my personality than ali tbh. sending all the love to my alexandra queens. <3

While scrolling through comments I came across this one and it’s scary accurate.
My friends have all called my Allie sense elementary school. I’m till in school and I’ve been Allie for so long Im worried about how much I resent my birth name. But reading your comment has aloud me to see my name in a different light. So I just wanted to thank you for your uplifting comment.

  3. Alexandria Joy says:

As an Alexandria I often have people who assume my name is Alexandra. Since I was little my nickname as been Ali which leads everyone to assume my name is Alison. I try to aid baristas and say my name is Alex (because if I say Ali they hear Ellie) yet even still they hear Alice. Lol basically no one gets my name right and if I introduce myself as Alexandria they visibly cringe at how long it is. I used to not like my name because it is so long, now I am grateful to have such a versatile name.

    Opinion of someone named Alexandra:

My family and close family and friends have always called me Allie. They also used to call me Alibaba as an endearment when I was little. At school I go by Alex, and when I get a job I’ll probably go by my full name Alexandra. When I took Spanish or French, I went by Alejandra or Alexandra. My friends usually call me Al, Als, Alpal, Palo, X, Allie-Apple, Alz or Sandra. When I went by Allie, people immediately assumed that my name was Alyson, which made me feel unique once they found out my name is Alexandra. I used to hate my name growing up, but now I think it’s really pretty. I think Alexandra is a great name because there are so many possibilities for unique nicknames, and I’ve not yet met another Alexandra’s which I think is really cool. In my opinion the name Alexandra has a sophisticated aesthetic, which is good cause I’m actually a complete goofball.

Some nicknames for Alexandra that I think are really cute are Allie (I would’ve probably spelled it like Ali or something like that cause it’s a little less common.), Alex, Alexa, Lex, Als, X, Andy and Ria (for Alexandria).

Other names I like are Gabrielle, Colette, Noëlle, Joséphine, Katherine, Éve, and Yael. I think they are really unique, and there are a lot of nickname possibilities for them too. (You can probably tell I really like French names haha)

I’ve always been called Alex as a nickname but it sounds kinda boyish, so i want a nickname like allie or lex or alexa or i saw someone say Zia and that would literally be so cool but it’s hard to start a nickname for urself

    • Lexie says:

Same girl. Everybody used to call me Alex but it is kinda boyish so I just told everybody that I prefer Lexie. And now they call me like that. I also like Allie too, its pretty. Decide which one you prefer and just tell everybody that thats how you want them to call you and they will get used to it.
Just do it without overthinking it too much ☺️
